Prayer Shawls to Celebrate and Comfort ...
Our dedicated knitters and crocheters meet every Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. in the Church Parlor to create offerings of prayer shawls that are blessed and given to friends, families and parishioners to celebrate life’s happy and solemn occasions and to spread the unconditional love of Christ through the crafting and giving of these gifts.
The shawls are made in both adult’s and children’s sizes and are given to celebrate life and all its wonderful occasions: baptisms, birthdays, special milestones, motherhood and also to support those who are in distress, sick, or in need of spiritual comfort.
Coffee/tea is served and usually, goodies from someone’s kitchen are shared. Our church group provides the yarn and all participants need to do is bring #11 or #13 knitting needles.
Anyone who is interested in knitting or crocheting prayer shawls is welcome to come.
Knowledge of knitting or crocheting is not required. The simple and elegant pattern is eagy to learn and the homespun yarn is forgiving.
A Children’s Knitting Ministry is also offered. This wonderful group of youngsters is learning to knit special prayer blankets to present to baptized babies. Children and parents are welcome to attend any Wednseay from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
